Specialty Coffee Packaging Trends in Spain 2026
Share
Specialty coffee packaging in Spain has evolved significantly in recent years. Roasters are no longer just looking for a bag that protects the coffee; they're looking for one that tells its story. These are the trends shaping 2026.
1. Flat bottom as a premium standard
While flat bottoms were a distinctive format a few years ago, today they are becoming the standard for specialty coffee. Their solid presence on the shelf and more premium look have established them as the preferred choice for roasters who want to communicate quality at first glance.
2. Less is more in design
The clear trend is towards cleaner designs, with fewer elements, more white space, and prominent typography. Less visual clutter, more impact.
3. Kraft remains strong, but evolves
Kraft isn't disappearing, but it's becoming more sophisticated. It's combined with gold details, modern typography, and soft-touch finishes that elevate perception without losing artisanal warmth.
4. Sustainability as a requirement
Roasters are increasingly asked by their customers about the sustainability of their packaging. Compostable and biodegradable bags are gaining traction.
5. Origin information as a design element
Coffee origin is no longer just on the back label: it becomes a prominent graphic element. Country maps, farm names, altitudes, processes.
6. QR codes with valuable content
More and more bags include a QR code that links to a complete coffee profile: farm video, producer profile, exact roast date, brewing recommendations.
7. Smaller formats for subscriptions and gifts
The 100g format is growing as an option for subscription boxes, corporate gifts, and premium samples.
8. Packaging as a social media marketing tool
A well-designed bag generates organic content. The most advanced roasters are already designing with how the bag will look in a photo in mind.
